On November 21st Ezyfit Health Club at Kawana, along with all of its Staff, Trainers and supporters will be hosting a fundraising event for one of its own. In July this year Personal Trainer and Natural Bodybuilder Kai Chase was diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer. Having just completed his first Bodybuilding Season and only just starting his Personal Training business, this was a harsh blow to Kai's dreams of working in the Health and Fitness industry.
Obviously this news was devastating to Kai and his family, as well as those close to him. The silver lining to this news was the huge amount of support Kai and his family have received. Kai is a very laid back casual individual and even while battling cancer and undergoing aggressive chemotherapy over the past few months, he still seems to smile about life and is the backbone of his families resilience.
The fact that Kai managed to prep for a Bodybuilding season and look in amazing condition while potentially carrying cancer is truly remarkable.
An initial fundraising campaign was undertaken back in July raising a large sum of money for Kai and his family to help pay their mortgage, bills, and ongoing medical expenses (which certainly has elevated the immediate financial stress they were subjected to at the time). Without the added stress and burden of their debt, Kai could solely concentrate on beating this disease.
Kai has a long road of recovery ahead, but after receiving some positive news following a recent scan his future is looking brighter. He still has to finish four months of chemotherapy, before heading back to work and starting to rebuild his personal training business up once more. Unfortunately this takes time and money, therefore on the 21st of November at Ezyfit we are fundraising for this great bloke and his amazing family.
All PT's are offering discounted rates for Personal Training sessions, with all proceeds going directly to Kai. The amazing people at Total Sports Nutrition are sponsoring a squatting challenge with all entry fees going directly to Kai. Adam and Joey Mogg, owners of Ezyfit, are opening the doors to the gym to everyone and all they are asking is a gold coin donation for anyone to train or join a group fitness class. The amazing people at Totally Work Wear are making dirt cheap 'Kai' branded hats for us to on sell with all proceeds going to Kai. All personal Trainers have also agreed to be auctioned off with each winning bidder having the ability to train the trainer for 30 minutes.
It is going to be an amazing day and hopefully a lot of money is raised for this great family but also raise further awareness for those battling cancer.
It is so great to see that when one of our own gets knocked down the entire Sunshine Coast and Health and Fitness community rally's around them to help pick them back up again. Head down to Ezyfit from 8:30am on the 21st to get behind this local legend
